As an economist I have been working with CE Delft since 2007. My particular expertise lies in the field of (potential) climate policy for ocean shipping. I am intimately conversant with the climate protection measures adopted by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) as well as those currently under discussion in Europe and at the IMO.
The CO2 abatement measures available to the shipping industry are pivotal when it comes to estimating the costs of alternative political measures and examining policy options. Together with my colleagues I have analysed the cost and effectiveness of all these measures and analysed why seemingly cost-effective options are not being implemented. CE Delft has carried out numerous studies on climate policy for maritime shipping, commissioned by national and international government agencies and by organisations like the IMO and the European Commission.
Methodologically, I am specialised in quantitative analysis and am responsible for work with the environmental economics model E3ME, which CE Delft runs under license, and which we use to calculate the macro-economic effects of national and European climate policy.
I am also fully conversant with the use of input-output tables to calculate the direct and indirect impact of changes in demand on turnover, added value, employment and so on. CE Delft regularly performs cost-benefit analyses of potential policy tools, government policies and private projects, and in these fields, too, I have considerable experience. Finally, I have broad experience with the economic statistics currently available in national and international databases.
Thanks to my German background I am at home not only in Dutch and English language projects, but also in the German-speaking world.
