Using my know-how and experience as a process technologist, my work is geared to making the chemical industry more sustainable, with particular focus on the following aspects:

  • Sustainable supply of renewable feedstocks
  • Recycling of non-renewable materials
  • Energy efficiency through collaboration between industries (supply chains) and on industrial sites
  • Breakthrough technologies: technologies yielding a major leap forward in energy and fuel efficiency

I carry out projects on commission from government, industry, trade associations and NGOs. Clients are concerned with issues like the following:

  • What alternatives are available for today’s processing of waste stream X, and what do they mean in terms of carbon emissions and costs?
  • What biomass flows have the right size, quality and sustainability profile to serve as a feedstock for process Y?
  • How can my company guarantee long-term availability of those flows for its activities?
  • What breakthrough technology  will be available in 2030 to secure the emission reduction targets set for the European chemical industry?
  • How, as an industrial sector, can one contribute to the European emission reduction targets for 2050, and what benefits will this bring for the sector’s innovative capacity?
  • How big will the biobased economy be in 2020?
