Background data on electricity labelling 2006

Since 1 January 2005 Dutch electricity suppliers must provide information on the source of their supplies and to comply with these labelling obligations they require national production data. These data were compiled by CE and used to determine the overall fuel mix of Dutch electricity supplies in the year 2006, with the following results: natural gas (over 50%), coal (25%), nuclear (8.5%) and renewables (12%). The environmental impact of this mix, in terms of CO2 emissions and radioactive waste, is 458 g CO2 per KWh and 0.000254 g nuclear waste per KWh.
