As CE Delft’s coordinator on Sustainable freight transport and thanks to my years of experience I have built up substantial know-how on the emissions of the various modes of transport (road haulage, inland shipping, etc.) and the factors of influence on those emissions. This know-how has been incorporated in the STREAM model, which we use to calculate the emissions of various forms of transport under specific conditions.

Translating technical know-how into solutions for policy-makers is one of my core fields of expertise. For government and industry we develop smart tools that help reduce freight transport emissions, to bring them in line with (future) legislative requirements. A good example is our development of an environmental index for shipping and its implementation in the system of port dues across European ports.

I attach great importance to customer relations and am keen to think issues all the way through with clients so our independent research responds to their information needs as closely as possible. I am quick to recognise the pivotal issues and distinguish these from contingencies, an ability from which clients benefit when I advise them on decisions that need to be taken.

I have been working at CE Delft for 10 years now, having graduated in Chemical Engineering and Technology & Society at Eindhoven Technological University.
