ir. Katja Kruit
researcher/consultant

Using my background in sustainable energy and chemical engineering, my work focuses on the energy transition. How will we provide heating in the built environment in 2050? What infrastructure is necessary to support the urban system? And how can cities, energy providers and industry work together to be prepared for the future? I perform research on technologies and policies, assisting local and national governments with this transition.

Before working at CE Delft, I coordinated an interdisciplinary research project in sustainable infrastructure and cities at the University of Minnesota (U.S.A.) and worked on biofuels, process intensification, thermal storage, and circular economy at the Netherlands Organization for Applied Research (TNO). I gained experience in policy advice, project management and corporate social responsibility. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and a Master’s degree in Sustainable Energy Technology from Delft University of Technology.

My expertise is in:

  • Energy in the urban environment
  • Biomass and renewable fuels
  • Chemical process technology
  • Circular economy
