Sustainable gas in heavy road goods transport, a vision for 2025-2050

CE Delft is publishing a series of reports in which a technology or development deemed promising is analysed for its impact on the energy supply. The aim is to provide insight into:

  • opportunities and barriers for new developments
  • consequences for energy production, infrastructure and consumption
  • financial consequences for energy consumers and suppliers.

In doing so, we pick out the extremes in developments, the edges of the playing field. This is the second report in the series, following one on the impacts of solar PV. This time the impacts are analysed of a scenario for 2025-2050 in which heavy road goods transport is fuelled by gas produced using renewably generated electricity. What are the options and the impacts and what route is most interesting?
